The QR Queensland Reds, riding high after two wins on the trot, are chasing three from three but will have to do it without injured fullback Chris Latham.

Latham has been ruled out of Friday night’s last home game for the season at Suncorp Stadium against the Stormers with hamstring tightness.

Regular halfback Sam Cordingley is still about two weeks away from returning from his foot injury, gifting last week’s man-of-the-match Josh Valentine his third straight start.

Valentine was impressive in the one-point win upset over the Bulls and said the gusty one-point win was a great effort against the Bulls on the back of a tough three week tour of South Africa.

‘It’s probably the toughest game I’ve play in over a year,’ said Valentine, who is only just returning from a serious knee injury which kept him out of the game for nine months.

‘The game time I’m getting (to gain) my confidence back on my knee has been superb.’

The Stormers have only posted two wins this season and now sit below the Reds on the table, possibly putting more pressure on the Reds to take their third straight victory, but Valentine said the team wasn’t focussed on that.

‘I don’t think we’re going to worry too much about things other than playing our own game.’

‘Our backs have been playing really well this year and on the weekend’s performance from the forwards, they’re showing that they’re starting to turn their season around as well.’

Valentine’s performance which included a try and some deft running and passing, was assisted by the platform built by the forwards and all the backs will enjoy a similar performance from the pack this week.

Valentine said the team wanted a win in their last home game at Suncorp Stadium for the season.

‘To send it off with a win would be really good, and obviously to have three wins in a row as well, would really lift the team for the last three games.’

The team is:
