Lavea boost for Chiefs
on
Chiefs first-five eighth Tasesa Lavea is taking part in full contact training this week.
It is likely that he will be available for selection for the Chiefs’ Friday night fixture against the Lions at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton.
Lavea suffered a medial ligament injury in round two of the Rebel Sport Super 14 in the Chiefs v Hurricanes match.
Meanwhile Niva Ta’auso has sore neck/tightness in his back is training, but he is not yet taking part in full contact. He will continue to be assessed throughout the week.
Richard Kahui on the other hand has a shoulder injury and he is likely to be out for 2-3 weeks even though he is training but not taking part in full contact.
Aled de Malmanche’s groin strain is progressing and may be a possibility for this week’s fixture.
In the unlikely’s are Jono Gibbes and his calf tear. He is said to be progressing well and is set to start running this week.
There is little chance he will be ready this week while Sosene Anesi’s broken neck will have him in a neck brace for another 3 weeks.
The Chiefs team to play the Lions will be announced at 10am this Wednesday.
