Super Rugby’s leader the Lions have been given a boost ahead of next week’s Super Rugby play offs as captain Warren Whiteley will return to running this week.

Whiteley was injured playing for the Springboks against Ireland and was expected to miss the last six weeks of the Super Rugby season.

However, Whiteley’s recovery has gone better than expected and he is now expected to return to playing in the next few weeks.

Warren Whiteley is settling well with treatment and should start running this week. The Lions do however say that it is still too early to tell when he’ll be available.

The Lions beat the Southern Kings on Friday in Round 15 and the only injury concern is that Martnitz Boshoff’s MRI showed bone bruising of the knee and a milld strain of one of the knee ligamnets. He should be able to return to playing.
