Lions Super rugby head coach Swys de Bruin has named a strong squad to play the Jaguares in their opening Super Rugby match in Buenos Aires on Saturday evening.
The Lions have played the Jaguares three times in Argentina and have yet to come away with a victory.
De Bruin has naned regular Super rugby captain Warren Whiteley to lead a team that includes eight Springboks and another on the replacements bench.
While in the past the Lions could have been accused of sending weaker teams to Argentina it is clear that for this match they have sent their strongest team.
A number of players were however not considered and they include flank Kwagga Smith and lock and new recruit Stephan Lewies who are both injured.
Cyle Brink, Robbie Coetzee, Johannes Jonker and Ross Cronje were also not considered as they are still recovering from longer term injuries.
Andries Coetzee, Courntall Skosan, Lionel Mapoe, Harold Vorster, Aphiwe Dyantyi, Elton Jantjies, Nic Groom, Warren Whiteley (capt), Hacjivah Dayimani, Marnus Schoeman, Marvin Orie, Rhyno Herbst, Carlu Sadie, Malcolm Marx, Dylan Smith.
