Lions head coach Johan Ackermann has promoted Pieter Scholtz to the starting line up for this Saturday’s Super Rugby match against the Hurricanes in Johannesburg.

Scholtz has been promoted into the starting line up after Ruan Dreyer was ruled out due to injury for the rest of the Super Rugby season.

Dreyer has already had surgery but is expected to be on the sidelines for approximately six months.

Scholtz has been promoted from the Golden Lions XV in the Currie Cup Qualifying Round.

Meanwhile Malcolm Marx has been included in the starting line-up but will undergo a late fitness test on Friday. Should he not be available, Armand van der Merwe will start with Ramone Samuels coming onto the bench.
