Lions suffer key Super rugby injury blow for play offs

Johannesburg based Super rugby team the Lions will contest the rest of their Super rugby campaign without scrumhalf Nic Groom.

Groom suffered a Super rugby season ending fracture in his left hand during the Super Rugby match against the Bulls in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The Lions have confirmed that Groom will undergo surgery today (Tuesday) and will miss the rest of the Super Rugby season.

Former Stormers Super Rugby scrum-half Nic Groom returned to South Africa from Northampton Saints earlier this season at the start of April.
