After five years with Vodacom Western Province/Stormers Marius Joubert has signed with Free State Rugby Union for next year.  Joubert will join Free State from 1 January 2007.

Marius commented that ‘I have really enjoyed my time and the set up at Vodacom Western Province.  It is a great set up to be in and I have formed solid friendships with the management and players. Western Province is a Union with a great history and pride and it has been an honour to represent them over the years.’

‘I am looking forward to the challenge of joining the Vodacom Cheetahs in their Vodacom Super 14 campaign and their coaching structure under Rassie I am sure will be of huge benefit to me.’

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank all at Western Province Rugby ‘ the loyal supporters, the board, management, staff, players and the medical team ‘ for their support over the years and wish them much success in the future.’

Rob Wagner MD of WP Rugby Pty Ltd wished Joubert well with his move to Bloemfontein. ‘Marius is a talented athlete and has a lot to offer the game. After a brilliant 2004 when he was nominated as one of the five finalists for the IRB Player of the Year Award, Marius had a bad run of injuries.

We sincerely hope that the change in environment will again bring out the best in him and that he again reaches the heights of the past. Our best wishes accompany him.’
