The Crusaders hope to have All Blacks captain Richie McCaw available for their Super Rugby Semi-final in Christchurch next weekend.

McCaw injured his ribs playing for the All Blacks against England in the June Internationals but is on track for the Semi-final.

The Crusaders have a bye this weekend as they finished second overall which means they wil miss the qualifying round and will host a Semi-final.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says the extra week will give McCaw the time he needs to fully recover.

“He’s probably a week away, ” Blackadder told Newstalk ZB.

“Probably would be ready to take contact at the end of this week and so he’ll be ready for that and hopefully he passes that, gets the tick there and he’s available for selection the week after.”
