The ELV’s might not have too many fans in the Northern Hemisphere but France and Sharks No.10 Frederic Michalak is one northern hemisphere player who thinks the law variations are a positive.

The new laws called Experimental Law Variations or ELV’s have been widely criticised from north of the equator since they were introduced in this year’s Super 14.

The Northern Hemisphere are concerned that the rules will change the game at a time when Rugby has never been as popular as it is right now.

Michalak however says that the ELVs have improved rugby, with one major area in particular being tidied up.

He believes the most difficult aspect of rugby for referees is the ruck but that has been improved significantly and he thinks the ELVs should be introduced into all levels of rugby.

Michalak says the new rules have improved rugby because there is a lot of movement which he says is different from the the northern hemisphere.

Michalak has plans to make the move back to the Northern Hemisphere as he does not want to miss out on another Six nations campaign like he did this year because of his commitments to the Sharks.

Michalak was named in the Sharks team to face the Highlanders this weekend as they try to maintain their unbeaten run.
