New faces in Boland Currie Cup friendly team

The Boland Kavaliers’ bench is loaded with acquisitions for Friday night’s friendly Currie Cup rugby match against the EP Elephants in Port Elizabeth.

They are props Jane du Toit and Johan Roets of the Maties, lock Grant le Roux of the Pukke, fullback Mark Harris of the Lions and centre Ernie Kruger of the Valke.

Boland will field their strongest side with the replacements all getting a run in the second half.
 
Winger Deon Scholtz has returned with the Emerging Sprinboks Sevens team from Kenya and will be back on the right wing.
 
The rest of the team remains the same from the one that has beaten the SWD Eagles at Bredasdorp 38-26 last weekend.
 
Veteran hooker Conrad Burke is also amongst the reserves.

Meanwhile, the winning captain of last year’s Blue Bulls Vodacom Cup side, No 8 Carel Hoffman, has also joined the Kavaliers.

He was, however, not considered frot the trip to Port Elizabeth.

The Boland team is:

Justin Peach, Deon Scholtz, Cornal Hendricks, Dewey Swartbooi, Lovu Sogidashe, Algar Watts, Marnus Hugo, Junior Bester, Wendell Wehr, Zolani Mofu, Rito Hlungwane, Frikkie Spies, Jacobie Adriaanse, Clemen Lewis (k), Janro van Niekerk.

Replacements: Conrad Burke, Jane du Toit, Johan Roets, Grant le Roux, David Hendricks, Angelo Brinkhuys, Danie van der Merwe, Hein Myburgh, Mark Harris, Ernie Kruger.
