The Free State Cheetahs have announced that they have become the sole shareholder
of the Cheetahs Super Rugby franchise and the team will play under a new logo.

The Bloemfontein based Super Rugby franchise will still be known as the Toyota
Cheetahs due to their sponsorship and their first match will be against the
Jaguars from Argentina on February 26 in Bloemfontein.

Over the last nine years the Cheetahs Super Rugby franchise also included the,
Griquas and Griffons, in what was known as South Africa’s central franchise.

The Cheetahs have, however, moved away from that agreement although they will
still consider selecting players from their neighbour provinces by mutual agreement
from their previous affiliates in the new expanded Super Rugby tournament.

The Free State Cheetahs will in 2016 be the sole shareholder of the Cheetahs
franchise.
