The Blues and Chiefs will lose two Super 14 players each for the Commonwealth Games sevens.

Doug Howlett and Onosai’i Tololima-Auva’a will miss one game for the Blues, with Sosene Anesi and Liam Messam will be out out for one of the Chiefs matches.

The Highlanders lose Josh Blackie, for two games. The Hurricanes and Crusaders will lose Tamati Ellison and Tanerau Latimer respectively.

Chiefs CEO Gary Dawson says they do not have any issues about losing two players. Dawson says they play the Crusaders next week and then the Chiefs have a bye, so they miss just one game.

Tafai Ioasa leads the 12 strong sevens team in Melbourne, which is missing a veteran in Amasio Valence, who has signed a new deal to play professionally in Japan, so has played his last Sevens tournament for New Zealand.
