Parsons pleased with Blues Super Rugby finish

Blues captain James Parsons says that the way his team flourished at the end of the Super Rugby season will give them confidence and something to build on next season.

The Blues are the only New Zealand team that failed to qualify for the Super Rugby play offs but they did finish the season just one point behind the Waratahs and level with the Sharks who are both in line to qualify.

Auckland’s Blues finished the season with wins over the top two Australian teams the Brumbies and Waratahs and outscored the Sydney side by five tries to four in their final match.

Parsons says that he was really pleased with the players effort at the end of the season.

“One thing we are trying to find here (at the Blues) is a bit of heart, a bit of passion and we’ve got a quote on our wall about leaving a little bit of ourselve out on the field and I felt we did that, especially toward the end of the first half.”

“We fed off our defence tonight,” Parsons told Radio NZ.

“We certainly didn’t play as well as we would have liked on attack but we were pretty pleased with our scramble (on defence)”
