Brumbies star David Pocock says that the Canberra Super Rugby franchise are not yet certainties to make the play offs despite having an easier run ahead.
The Brumbies are second in the Australian Conference – just a point behind the Waratahs – but this weekend they play the Sunwolves while the Waratahs play the Chiefs.
If the standings are anything to go on the Brumbies should finish the weekend as the top Australian team and then they have the Reds, Blues and Force ahead of them.
In contrast after the Chiefs the Waratahs have the Hurricanes and Blues and the Sunwolves in Japan ahead.
Pocock says that it would be foolish to write the Waratahs off with four matches still to play.
“I don’t think so,” Pocock told Fairfax media. “The Tahs on their day will beat anyone,” added Pocock.
“They’ve got the players to really step up when they need to and I think they’ll be looking to do that over the next few weeks. While we’ve got teams that maybe aren’t the top of the ladder. ”
“(The) Sunwolves drew with the Stormers last week and we got done by the Stormers. It’s one of those competitions where there’s really no easy games.”
“We’ve got the opportunity and it’s up to us to make the most of it. We’ve got four games to get into the finals so we’ve got to win them all. There’s no guarantees.”
