Pumas’ coach Jimmy Stonehouse has named his team to face the Golden Lions in their first Currie Cup match of the season in Johannesburg on Friday.
The Puma backline has a strong Springbok Sevens flavour to it with the return of MJ Mentz at fullback and a Blitzbokke centre pairing of JW Jonker and Pieter Engelbrecht.
Scrumhalf Shaun Venter is also a former national sevens player.
Engelbrecht, Jonker, Deon Scholtz (centre) and Pellow van der Westhuizen (hooker) will make their Currie Cup debuts for the Pumas.
