A Blitzkrieg of six tries in the last half hour after being scoreless for about 50 minutes, saw the Pumas destroy the Griffons 43-7 in their First Division rugby clash in Witbank on Saturday afternoon.

Once Pumas flyer Allister Ketteldas got a sniff of the white line in the 47th minute of the game, the Pumas got the scoreboard ticking to inflict the Griffons their biggest defeat of the season.

Ketteldas, the top scorer in the league, added another two tries for a hat trick to up his tally for the season to 10.

Two minutes after his first try Ketteldas scored his second before fullback MJ Mentz also got into the action with a brace of his own.

The Griffons kicked off with a strong wind at their back and scored the only try of the first half when centre Werner Griesel ran an angle to score for veteran flyhalf Kennedy Tsimba to convert.

The Pumas had several scoring opportunities in the first half, but mistakes kept them out and it seemed that they could spring a surprise.

The top kicker in the First Division, Braam Pretorius, converted five of the six tries and difficult conditions and kicked a penalty for a total of 13 points.
