Blues Super Rugby captain Jerome Kaino could miss the Blues Super Rugby season opener against the Highlanders due to a red card he was shown in a warm up.
The Blues beat the Chiefs 24-12 in a Super Rugby pre-season match at Pukekohe on Friday but Kaino was shown a red card in the match for throwing a punch.
The two time World cup winner was deemed to the have punched Chiefs front-rower Pauliasi Manu and was sent off.
Kaino must now wait to hear if he faces a ban from a New Zealand Rugby judicial hearing.
Aside from the red card the Blues have had a near perfect pre-season as they have won three from three matches.
