Queensland’s Reds came from behind to beat South Africa’s Bulls 41-17 with a bonus point at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane after trailing 17-0 early in the match.

The Reds outscored the Bulls by six tries to three and scored 41 unanswered points in their comeback.

The victory is the Reds seventh straight Super rugby victory over Pretoria’s Bulls at Suncorp stadium.

The Bulls had an almost perfect start to the match as they were scoring at nearly a point a minute through three early tries from Embrose Papier, Rosko Speckman and Warrick Gelant.

The Bulls opening half was so dominant that nearing the end of the half they had enjoyed 71% of the territory and 65% of the possession.

However, they allowed the Reds to come back into the match with two late tries so despite the statistics suggesting a different story the Reds only trailed 14-17 at half time.

The  Reds first half tries were scored by captain Liam Wright and replacement fullback Isaac Lucas.

Once the Reds had started their comeback they prevented the Bulls from adding any further points and they opened the second half with a try by Lukhan Salakaia-Loto.

Bryce Hegarty’s kicking was a little off and he could only manage to convert three of the Reds seven tries and was on target with a penalty.

The Reds went a little quiet after Salakaia-Loto’s try but then in the final 12 minutes they ran in three tries by Alex Mafi, Harry Hoopert and Taniela Tupou went over in the 78th minute for the bonus point try.

Next week if Super rugby continues as scheduled the Reds will have a bye while the Bulls play the Waratahs in Tamworth.
