Queensland Reds Super Rugby prop Sef Faagase has been cited for an alleged act of foul play in his team’s 13-15 loss to the Waratahs in Brisbane.

Faagase is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (a) Striking with knee, during the match between the Reds and Waratahs at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on 27 March 2016.

Faagase is alleged to have made contact with his knee to the head of Waratahs #16 after a collapsed scrum in the 43rd minute of the match.

Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Robert Stelzner SC.

All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
