2011 Super Rugby champions the Reds are expected to confirm that they have signed former Wallaby James O’Connor for next season.

O’Connor had his Australian Rugby Union contract torn up last year after 44 Tests which led to him playing rugby in England.

The twenty-four-year-old has signed a short-term deal with Heineken Cup and French Top 14 champions Toulon but is expected to return to Australia for the 2015 Super Rugby season.

O’Connor has played in every position in the Australian backline except at No.9 but is seen by Wallabies coch Ewen McKenzie as a winger primarily.

Brumbies winger Henry Speight is expected to join the Wallabies later this year which will give the Australian side a lot more depth out wide for the World Cup next year in England.

The Reds announcement is expected to made on Friday.
