Waratahs beat Reds in Brisbane

Queensland Super Rugby franchise the Reds host the Waratahs in Brisbane this weekend and they will be hoping to build on their victory over the Kings before the bye last week.

While the Reds will go into the match with confidence from a win and fresh from the bye they face the Waratahs who have won the last six matches between the sides.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Quade Cooper kicks off and the match is underway.

1.00: The Waratahs win an early penalty for a player leaving his feet. Bernard Foley kicks for touch.

3.00: The Waratahs ware awarded another penalty. Foley lines up the shot but misses from almost in front and about 27m out.

7.00: Penalty to the Reds. Quade Cooper kicks for touch and sets up the line out.

9.00: Waratahs dominating the stats for territory and possession. The Reds however get some rare time in the Waratahs half with a scrum.

11.00: The Reds win the scrum and get into the Waratahs 22. Scott Higginbotham picks and goes with the ball and offloads to Karmichael Hunt who scores untouched.

12.00: Cooper adds the conversion.

13.00: The Reds get back on the attack and Hunt almost gets through again but the ball is lost forward.

16.00: The Reds are looking dangerous. Samu Kerevi and Duncan Paia’aua are finding holes.

17.00: The Reds win a penalty. Cooper takes the kick but misses.

19.00: The Waratahs get some quality ball and they attack down the wing. The Waratahs get to the line and Phipps goes over. The TMO will have a look while there is some push and shove between the players. Phipps is awarded the try.

20.00: Foley slots the conversion and levels the scores.

22.00: The Reds hit back immediately. They go through the phases passing the ball quickly through the hands and Hunt offloads to Lukhan Tui who scores. TRY!

23.00: Cooper misses the conversion. That’s 1 from 3 attempts.

25.00: Penalty to the Reds for a high tackle. Cooper kicks for touch and finds it.

26.00: The Reds win the line out but give away a penalty.

30.00: The Waratahs work the ball into the Reds 22. Quade Cooper gets an intercept and runs for the line. He realises he won’t have the pace so chips ahead for Izaia Perese who gets to the ball and scores. TRY!

31.00: Cooper takes the conversion kick and slots the conversion.

33.00: Penalty to the Waratahs. Foley lines up the kick and nails it.

35.00: The Reds get a warning for a high tackle. This one was by George Smith. Foley finds touch with the penalty.

38.00: the Waratahs win the ball from a line out. Foley slips an inside pass to Michael Hooper who goes through two tackles and scores. TRY!

39.00: Foley takes the conversion kick and nails it. The siren starts but they will have the restart.

41.00; The Waratahs win a penalty for tackling a player in the air. The touchie comes in and asks to check for foul play by Izaia Perese with the TMO. Perese gets a yellow card. Foley kicks for touch with the penalty.

42.00: The ball goes dead which ends the half.

Foley kicks off and the second half is underway.

42.00: The Reds win the ball from a scrum but as they move the ball down the line the ball is lost forward.

45.00: Penalty to the Waratahs as the Reds fail to release the ball. Foley will line up a kick for the posts.

46.00: Foley takes the kick and nails it. The Waratahs lead for the first time in the match.

Penalty to the Reds. Cooper takes the penalty kick and sets up the line out.

49.00: The Reds – still with 14 players – drive over the line and Stephen Moore scores. TRY! The Reds lead again.

50.00: Cooper takes the conversion kick and nails it. Reds back to 15 players.

52.00: The Reds attack down the wing but the final pass goes forward.

53.00: The Waratahs win a penalty from the scrum.

57.00: The Waratahs are keeping the ball in hand more and running with it. They do however knock on this time.

61.00: Hendrik Tui comes off and is replaced by Leroy Houston. Attendance is 18,781.

62.00: Penalty to the Waratahs. Foley takes the kick and nails it.

66.00: Penalty to the Waratahs inside their own half. Foley kicks for touch and sets up the line out.

69.00: The Reds cough up the ball at the back of the scrum so the Waratahs have an attacking scrum in the Reds half.

71.00: Scrum penalty to the Waratahs. It is kickable. Foley lines up the kick and nails it to level the scores.

74.00: The Waratahs are keeping the Reds pinned back in their half. This time they chip the ball forward but then lose it forward.
