Mat Rogers will make his comeback for the HSBC Waratahs from the bench in Saturday afternoon’s Tooheys New Super 14 clash with the Sharks at Aussie Stadium.

Mat Rogers kicking at Canberra Stadium. ‘Since returning from compassionate leave he’s trained the house down back here and he’s ready to go,’ said head coach Ewen McKenzie.

‘Thinking with the heart you’d love to throw him straight into the starting side but it’s definitely better practice to ease him back through the bench where I expect him to make a strong impact.’

There are several other changes to the side that lost to the Bulls in Pretoria last weekend.

Benn Robinson replaces Matt Dunning at loosehead prop to make his Super Rugby run-on debut, Wycliff Palu takes over from Rocky Elsom who was suspended at blindside flanker and David Lyons returns to Number 8 for Stephen Hoiles after a powerful running display against the Bulls.

Lineout general Daniel Vickerman also returns from a lower back injury moving Will Caldwell to the bench.
