Rogers “nose” he will start against Blues

Mat Rogers trained strongly on Monday and will be a certain starter for Friday’s Tooheys New Super 14 clash between the HSBC Waratahs and Auckland Blues at Aussie Stadium.

Rogers suffered a badly broken nose when he collided with Western Force winger Haig Sare at Subiaco at the weekend.

“I could have gone back on but the coaching team and medical staff decided against it,” said Rogers.

“I’m pretty used to this this happening because I reckon my nose has been broken once a year since I’ve been playing footy.”

Rogers completed the entire session today (Monday) but rampaging No.8 David Lyons was unable to do the same.

Lyons is suffering from a corked thigh which forced him off early against the Force.

The injury isn’t expected to prevent Lyons from playing on Friday
