Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has named Earl Rose and Lionel Mapoe in his provisional Super 15 Rugby squad for the 2011 tournament.

Mapoe is involved in a court battle between the Cheetahs and the Sharks who he wants to play for.

Earl Rose was selected to tour with the Springboks and for the British and Irish Lions series last year but did not make it into the test line up.

During the 2010 Super Rugby season he fell dramatically out of favour with the Lions and ended up playing club rugby.

Rose was linked to a move outside of South Africa but has now been named in the Cheetahs squad after being contracted by the Griquas.

The squad of 51 players will get together at the Free State Institute for Sports Science for conditioning tests and pre-season planning.

The squad will then be reduced to about 30 players by November the 26th and the final squad should be announced by mid-January.
