Rugby Championship Rd.2 Team vs Team Preview

on

Rugby Championship Round 2 moves to Australasia this weekend where the All Blacks host the Springboks and the Wallabies host the Pumas.

After the first round, South Africa lead the standings on 5 points following a bonus point victory over Australia who have dropped to fourth place.

New Zealand’s All Blacks were kept scoreless in the second half of their tournament opener but held on to beat Argentina by four points. That result places New Zealand second and Argentina third.

Last year when the All Blacks hosted the Springboks in Wellington the Springboks won 34-36 so the New Zealand side will be looking for revenge – and the top spot in the standings.

The only time New Zealand has not won the Rugby Championship was in 2015 – which was also the year that we last had a world cup and a shortened Rugby Championship.

This weekend the All Blacks need just six more points to become the first team in Test rugby history to score 16,000 points – no other team is yet to break the 14,000 mark.

Also, last year when Australia hosted Argentina on the Gold Coast it was Argentina that took the spoils by beating the Wallabies 19-23. The Wallabies will also be looking for revenge no doubt.

Here we take a short look at the history of the team’s history against each other in recent matches in the cities featuring this weekend.
