The Springboks today received another big dose of encouragement ahead of their crucial Vodacom Tri-Nations decider against the All Blacks in Dunedin.

Team sponsor Sasol said in a letter addressed to Springbok coach Jake White, captain John Smit and the entire team, that the company and all its’ people are right behind the team for the crucial encounter.

Former president Nelson Mandela phoned the team earlier in the week to wish them well for the clash over the weekend at Carisbrook.

The Sasol letter, undersigned by Trevor Munday (Deputy CEO), reads as follows:

“Dear Jake, John and all of you in the Springbok team.

“As your team sponsor, we at Sasol have watched with immense pride the impressive victories you have achieved in recent weeks. Before every game, the buzz and anticipation throughout the company, and indeed the country, has been loaded with excitement and confidence that this great Springbok team of ours is again going on to the field to play yet another game, against one of the other leading teams in the world.

“This Saturday you play both for the Tri-Nations  and unofficial title of Best Rugby Team in the World. It will be a tough and challenging contest but all of you guys are made of the right stuff, you are well trained, fit and skilled. All of us at Sasol will be right behind you and, albeit from many thousands of kilometres, you may just hear us shouting our lungs out in support of all of you.

“Good luck for the game – go out and enjoy yourselves! We are proud of you.”
