Former Otago player Matt Saunders will replace wing Lucky Mulipola and join the Highlanders squad for the remainder of the season. Saunders has been drafted in from the Highlanders wider training group and has been training with the Highlanders for the past two weeks.

Highlanders coach Glenn Moore said, ‘Matt it is an experienced player at this level. He knows the Highlanders environment well and will fit into the squad’.

The decision on a replacement for Ezra Taylor will be made prior to the Highlanders departing for South Africa in two weeks time.

Meanwhile the Highlanders will be without No. 8 Steven Setephano and flanker Alando Soakai for this Friday nights game against the Lions.

Setephano (calf) and Soakai (broken nose) will be out for at least 2 weeks.
