All Blacks and Hurricanes winger Julian Savea is set to make his return to the Super Rugby field this weekend to face the Jaguares in Wellington.

Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd dropped Savea for their match last week against the Southern Kings but the coach says he has been pleased with how the winger responded.

Boyd said that Savea had impressed him in training and is looking good and “there is a reasonably strong chance that he will play on the weekend”

“We gave other people an opportunity last time and he had a set of work to do over the last 10 days and I think by and large he’s done really well in that space and he’s looking good,” Boyd told NewsHub.

“He’s done everything we asked of him and generally when you give other people an opportunity to play, unless they have an absolute scorcher, we tend to go back to the incumbent guy to give him a crack”

Boyd also revealed that his other All Black winger Cory Jane will win his 100th Super Rugby for the franchise this weekend and that he could start at fullback as James Marshall is unavailable with concussion.
