Sharks make four changes for Blues

The Sharks have named a Super Rugby team with four changes to the side that lost to the Lions for this week’s match against the Blues in Auckland.

Sharks Director of Rugby, Gary Gold has made four changes to the side one of which is a positional change.

With Marcell Coetzee unfortunately out for the season with an ACL injury (knee ligaments), his place amongst the loose forwards is taken by Philip van der Walt who returns from injury.

Daniel du Preez moves from number eight to wearing the number six jersey on the side of the scrum.

Other changes see Coenie Oosthuizen make way for Lourens Adriaanse and Stephan Lewies returning after being a late withdrawal last week.

“The players are upbeat and are excited as well as optimistic about this three-week tour,” said Gold.

“We are confident that we tour well and we hoping we can really surprise a few people with some improved performances.

“The Blues played really well against the Chiefs last weekend and they would’ve been disappointed not to have won that game. Under Tana Umanga they seem to be more settled. They are a real threat and have massive ball carriers, a good set-piece and obviously electric backs, who are renowned steppers.

“Parity at scrum time is going to be really important for us, in order to give ourselves enough opportunities to launch attacks against them. Also, we have to be much more accurate with our set-pieces and discipline is a key focus for us going into this weekend.”
