Sharks Coach Dick Muir has announced their Super 14 Squad, confirmed by SA Rugby and sanctioned by SANZAR. There are 30 players in the squad with 5 players that are on the Injured/Untouchables list that can be used at a later date.

The Injured/Untouchables are John Smit (recovering from a stomach operation) Jaco Gouws, Scott Mathie, Dusty Noble and Braam Immelman.

Butch James, Tsepo Kokoali and Dean Hall were unavailable for consideration due to injury.

Former All Black flyhalf, Tony Brown’s arrival has been delayed due to his in-form play. Brown has played a key role in his team’s progression (the Sanyo Wild Knights) in Japan’s national rugby competion.

‘The Sharks Super 14 side is a balanced one combining both youth and experience,’ commented Coach Dick Muir. ‘ There is good depth in the side made possible by the number of players coming through the (Academy) system which will also benefit the Wildebeest (Sharks Vodacom) team being coached by Swys de Bruin and Balie Swart.’

A practice match on Friday, January 20 will see the Sharks Super 14 side take on the Leopards at Kings Park. The match will comprise six, 30-minute chukkas.
