The Sharks Ruan Pienaar, the son of the ex Springbok Gysie Pienaar was the hero of the day as the Sharks showed their visitors who are the Chiefs in Durban. He had a dazzling run showing pace and style. But the man of the match for us was Percy Montgomery who scored 25 points playing at flyhalf. He scored two tries and kicked three conversions and three penalties for a personal haul of 25 points.

Montgomery scored his first try by gaining possession from a loose scrum near the Chiefs line and dived over to score.

Montgomery scored his second try two minutes from half time after Sharks flanker AJ Venter charged down an attempted clearance by Chiefs flyhalf Stephen Donald.

Donald pulled back three points with a penalty as the siren for half time went. In the 61st minute Donald’s conversion hit the upright and stayed out.

The Chiefs spent most of their time in the Sharks territory but the Sharks showed they have a good defence and held firm

The Sharks won the match 31-20.
