Sharks beat Southern Kings in Durban




The second last Super Rugby match on Saturday in Round 13 is in Durban where the Sharks host the Southern Kings.

Pat Lambie kicks off and the match is underway.

The Sharks win an early penalty. Lambie kicks to the corner for the line out.

2.00: The Sharks win the line out but they use the maul and get penalised for truck and trailer.

3.00: The Kings clear the ball to the half way line.

5.00: The Sharks press the Kings back into their half but the Kings turn the ball over and boot upfield.

7.00: The Sharks get into space and Jordaan offloads to Pat Lambie who races for the line and scores. TRY! The wind has come up. Daniel du Preez limps off injured and Tera Mtembu comes on.

8.00: Lambie’s conversion kick is short.

11.00: Penalty to the Sharks from the scrum as the front row pops up. The Sharks kick for touch.

12.00: The Sharks win the line out and run the ball. When they get to the other side they win a penalty from the breakdown. Lambie will have a shot.

13.00: Lambie slots the penalty.

17.00: Jurgen Visser tries to counter attack by running at the Sharks but he is stopped. The Kings keep the ball alive and  Lukhanyo Am slips through and is stopped short.

18.00: The Sharks pick off a loose ball from the Kings and Lambie races for the line and passes to Paul Jordaan who scores. TRY!

19.00: Lambie adds the conversion. Luzuko Vulindlu comes off injured.  Jaco van Tonder is on.

21.00: The Sharks win a scrum and Willie le Roux breaks out setting up Jordaan who makes ground and then offloads back to Le Roux who scores. TRY!

23.00: Lambie takes the conversion kick – he nails it.

24.00: From the restart kick the Sharks get the ball and Paul Jordaan slips around the last defender and races for the line to score his second TRY!

25.00: Lambie adds the conversion.

28.00: The Kings kick deep and the Sharks scramble and kick the ball back.

31.00: The Sharks knock on so the Kings have a scrum in their half near the touchline.

32.00: The Kings win the scrum but kick the ball away and the Sharks counter attack and Andre Esterhuizen slices through the Kings and scores next to the posts. TRY!

34.00: The conversion is added by Lambie.

37.00: The Kings continue to offer little resistance and this time JP Pietersen slips through in the corner and scores. TRY!

38.00: Lambie takes the conversion kick from almost the touchline. He nails it.

40.00: The Sharks move the ball down the line and they look likely to score but the pass to Lambie is poor and goes to ground.

The siren sounds for half time. It is half time.

The Kings kick off and the second half is underway.

43.00: The Kings get some rare time in the Sharks 22 before the ball goes into touch.

44.00: The Sharks win the line out and Lourens Adriaanse offloads the ball and the support knocks the ball on. The TMO is called in to look at the tackle. It’s a penalty to the Sharks for a dangerous tackle by Tembelan Bholi.

45.00: The Sharks take the line out. They win the line out but take the ball into touch.

47.00: The ball bounced well for Lambie who races down the touchline and scores in the corner. TRY! His second.

50.00: Lambie misses the conversion.

54.00: Elgar Watts comes on for the Kings. The Sharks have brought on a new front row.

55.00: The TMO is called in to review an incident. The game resumes with a scrum.

62.00: Willie le Roux boots the ball upfield and it goes into touch. The Kings win the line out but then knock on. No scores added for 15 minutes now.

66.00: The Sharks lose the ball but they get called back as they had an advantage. The Sharks tap it and run and after several passes Lwazi Mvovo goes in to score in the corner. TMO replays show he has a foot in touch. Hi heel touched the line. No try. In the meantime Thembelani Bholi is being stretchered off after a big tackle. Odwa Ndungane comes on for Willie le Roux.

68.00: The Sharks set up a line out on the 5m line in the Kings half. Justin Ackerman comes on for Schalk Ferreira. The Kings win the line out and press the Sharks back.

69.00: The Sharks go through 8 phases on the attack working the ball from the half way line to the Kings 22. They win a penalty and choose the scrum.

71.00: Penalties conceded : Sharks 2 Kings 11

72.00: Penalty to the Sharks from the scrum. They choose another scrum.

74.00: The match has really taken an odd shape. The Sharks know they have the bonus point victory and the Kings know they can’t win. Both sides seem to be grinding down the time left.

75.00: Lwazi Mvovo has a run for the Sharks but he is stopped. The Sharks win a penalty and they tap it and Thomas du Toit scores his first TRY!

77.00: Lambie takes the conversion kick but it hits the post.

78.00: The Sharks go through 6 phases in their 22. They get the ball out of the 22 but the Kings turn it over.

79.00: The Kings go through the phases until there is a knock on. The game is paused as there has been a head collision. The game resumes with a line out.

80.00: The siren sounds and there is a knock on. Thats it.
