Match detail

We are waiting for the kick-off.

In the meantime why not have a look at the match preview.

1.00: PEEEEP! We are underway at a sunny and hot Durban by the sea. There, however, is a bit of a breeze to cool down the players and the crowd.

0.12: OH, BOY! What an incredible start, 12 seconds in, and Johan du Toit has taken out Louis Schreuder in the air; he knows he’s in trouble because he hides his face in the grass.

1.00: YELLOW CARD! Louis Schreuder is off the field, but AJ Jacobs over-rules the TMO’s recommendation of a red card because the scrumhalf landed on his back. However, Schreuder id stretchered off because his head hit the ground. That is a terrible call. 0-0

4.00: Sharks with an attack that ends with a knock-on. The Cape Town team smashes the home team’s pack, winning a penalty.

6.00: Both teams go to their kicking game, employing box-kicks and little grubbers to gain territory.

7.00: Seabelo Senatla cleans up Lukhanyo Am’s chip-kick, so the Sharks have an attacking lineout on the visitor’s 22m.

8.00: The Stormers had the lineout after the ball came off Makazole Mapimpi’s leg. Stormers clear to halfway, but the Sharks come again.

10.00: I still can’t believe that was not a red card, all the commentators and social media cannot believe it either. Johan du Toit gets to come back on the field, while his victim Louis Schreuder is out of the game after failing the HIA.

14.00: One of the cameramen takes a hit from Dillyn Leyds after he is tackled into touch. The game is being played between the two teams’ 22s.

16.00: Steven Kitshoff concedes a penalty after Thomas du Toit found his opponent isolated, the ball there for the taking. Curwin Bosch calls for the tee.

18.00: MISS! Bosch’s kick sails high and wide to the right. 0-0

20.00: Andre Esterhuizen hunts down Jean-Luc du Plessis, but he is down and being checked by the medics. Jean-Luc du Plessis leaves now.

21.00: Damian Willemse moves from fullback to flyhalf, and Sergeal Petersen comes on to fullback.

22.00: Johan du Toit concedes another penalty at the ruck. Bosch decides against taking an easy three; Am, instead, wants a scrum on the 22.

24.00: Mapimpi evades the blockers, gets in-between Leyds and Petersen, earning a scrum after Leyds knocks-on. The up-and-under was spot-on by Bosch. The Sharks have the scrum near the Stormers’ line.

25.00: Senatla claims a diving mark, he misses his touch and Aphelele Fassi counter-attacks from deep.

26.00: TRY! The Sharks are back inside the Stormers’ half, dominating the contact areas. Bosch’s delayed pop-pass sends Fassi through Scarra Ntubeni and Jamie Roberts and raced away to score the opening try. 5-0

28.00: Let’s go! Stormers kick deep.

29.00: TRY! The Stormers hit back immediately thought Herschel Jantjies. The restart is botched by the hosts, the ball booted high – and nowhere – to Juarno Augustus. 39.00: Kerron van Vuuren throws in the lineout on the halfway line. The ball is lost by the Sharks, but they win back possession; however, we go back for a high tackle by Tyler Paul. Am won the ball at the previous ruck, too. Bosch kicks long to the Stormers’ 22m.

42.00: Bosch sits in the pocket, looking for a drop-goal, but a poor pass slips between his legs. He regathers and starts another series of attacks.
