On the advice of medical specialists, Emirates Western Force captain Nathan Sharpe will not be available to play against the Waratahs at Subiaco Oval on Friday night.

The towering lock was hospitalised last weekend after suffering from heat stress and dehydration, caused by a viral infection, in the match against the Reds.

Sharpe is expected to play against the Bulls on Saturday 25 March at Subiaco Oval.

Sharpe’s position at lock has been filled by former Queenslander and Australian U21, Pat O’Connor, who will make his Tooheys New Super 14 debut.

In the absence of Sharpe and Scott Fava, Brendan Cannon will captain the side with Scott Staniforth as vice-captain.
