Force fullback Cameron Shepherd says that he is “pumped” to play the Waratahs this weekend and because he moved from Sydney to play for the Force the match will be extra special.

Writing in his column for PerthNow he says,” Saturday night’s match against the Waratahs will be massive, specially for those of us who left Sydney to come to the Force, says Cameron Shepherd.

“If there’s any team you like to beat it’s the Waratahs and the guys are pumped. “

“They are certainly passionate about their rugby in Sydney.

“The Waratahs haven’t been performing that well this year, but they put the tries together against the Blues and that always makes you feel better

The Waratahs bounced back last week from a week of adversity after their coach Ewen McKenzie was told that his contract would not be renewed.

“It brings an excitement and motivation back to your game and they will be on a high – but so are we.

“The hype will be building for this game in the next few days and it will be great to have the Sea of Blue behind us.

“We have targeted this as a game we want.

“There’s a certain way that we want to play. We are fitter than most sides and we know we can play this game the way we want.

“We’ve put together a few average performances as well as playing some good football this season. I reckon it’s time for another big one.

“We need this win to cement our spot in the top four.

The Force were considered to be real contenders for the play offs in the early rounds but a bad loss to the Stormers put their potential place in the play offs in real doubt.

Some of the Force players have not been performing in the past few weeks as they did in the opening rounds and Shepherd pus his hand up as a player who can improve.

“I know I’ve not been at my best and it’s been frustrating. All I want to do is turn up fresh and put in a good game.

“Also, my parents are coming over for the weekend and it would be good to put on a show for them at my home ground.

“Gitty (Matt Giteau) will be kicking again this week. He gave me the job last week and I didn’t exactly perform.

“It wasn’t a good night for me so I’m giving the job back to him and I’ll maybe just take the long ones.
