Sivivatu on ice for the moment

A possible injury cloud is hanging over the All Blacks for Saturday’s Tri-Nations clash against South Africa, with wing Sitiveni Sivivatu sitting out much of Monday’s training session with ice strapped to his calf.

The session, which was marked by a police and private security guard and much of which was closed to the press, was largely aerobic in nature, with the players playing an adapted form of Australian Rules football and running off the cobwebs from Sunday’s long flight before Saturday’s starting XV was put through its paces.

Sivivatu did take his place in the team that ran through a few moves later on in the session, however.

Other than that, the All Black players were all present and correct, and looking extremely fresh considering the journey, with high spirits present all over the Glenwood College field.

The squad has an entirely free day on Tuesday, with the players either going for a few holes on one of Durban’s golf courses or taking time off on the beach – although the cold and cloudy weather sweeping South Africa’s Eastern Cape may ensure that there is a lot more of the former than the latter.
