Hurricanes captain Rodney So’oialo plays his 50th game for the Hurricanes when they host the Crusaders in Wellington on Saturday in round eight of the Rebel Sport Super 14 at 5.30pm.

So’oialo, who made his debut in 2001 against the Reds, will lead out the Hurricanes in front of a sold-out Westpac Stadium for this much anticipated top of the table clash.

At the halfway stage of the competition, the Hurricanes are joint leaders with the Waratahs on 28 points and the Crusaders are one point behind, but have a game in hand after last week’s bye.

There are two confirmed changes to the Hurricanes starting fifteen that beat the Sharks 23-17 last week, with John Schwalger coming in for Joe McDonnell at loosehead prop and lock Jason Eaton replacing Luke Andrews. McDonnell and Andrews are both on the bench, while Tim Fairbrother has suffered a shoulder injury and was not considered for the match.

Piri Weepu and Brendon Haami have been bracketed at halfback, with Weepu being given more time to prove his fitness.
