All Blacks and Super Rugby star Sonny Bill Williams has revealed that he is loosely aiming to make his return to Super Rugby by April.

The All Black world cup winner will play Super Rugby for the Blues in 2017 and speaking in a interview with Breakfast, Williams said he was looking to return to action “maybe six weeks into Super Rugby”.

Williams was injured playing for New Zealand Sevens at the Olympics and has been in rehabilitation since then.

“I haven’t really put a date on it … I’m hoping to be back by then,” said Williams.

Six weeks after the start of Super Rugby is at the start of April and on April 1 the Blues host the Western Force.

Following this the Blues travel south to play the Highlanders on April 8 before returning to host the Hurricanes on April 15.

Williams said that his recovery had been going “really well”.

“It’s been an awesome experience to be honest,” said Williams.

“Being able to spend some time at home with my family and just connect, especially with my eldest daughter, she’s my little shadow now … wherever I go around the house she has to follow.”
