New Zealand reclaimed The Rugby Championship after beating South Africa in the Centenary Test last weekend, the All Blacks are undefeated and looking for another clean sweep.
The All Blacks have won The Rugby Championship Grand Slam four times (2012/13/16/17) and will be looking to do it again with another win against a tired, out-of-form Springboks.
- New Zealand has lost only one of their last 11 Tests against South Africa (W9, D1), and is undefeated in their last four meetings (W3, D1); though, only one of those four fixtures was decided by a margin of more than two points.
- The Kiwis have lost only one of their 12 Tests in Australia against teams other than the Wallabies (W11), a 25-15 defeat to Argentina in November 2020.
- South Africa boasts the best lineout (89%) and scrum success rate (97%) of any team in the 2021 Rugby Championship; although, the Springboks are the only team yet to score a try starting possession from a scrum.
- Malcolm Marx has a 92% success rate on his lineout throws in TRC this year (33/36) – the best rate of any player to make at least three throws.
- Ardie Savea has provided three assists in The Rugby Championship, the most by any player in the tournament.
Ahead of this match, the bookmakers gave South Africa an 11-point start this match, so they expected an All Black win by 11 points.
