The Lions have been given a big boost for their upcoming Super Rugby match against the Crusaders in Round six as a specialist says Elton Jantjies does not need surgery.

The Lions issued a medical update on Tuesday stating that Jantjies would have surgery but it was not known yet how long he would be out of action.

The injury was sustained playing against the Cheetahs in Johannesburg on Saturday.

However Jantjies consulted a specialist in Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon and the prognosis is not as bad as was originally thought.

Although all indications were that he would need an operation to correct a fractured wrist, he will not need an operation and will be able to play against the Crusaders on 1 April at Emirates Airline

The Lions have a bye this week.
