Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus has included two Springboks who played for other franchises last year, in his side for their first Super 14 match against the Bulls at Newlands on Saturday.

Gcobani Bobo, who couldn’t regularly make the Sharks side last year and was released to play for and captain the national Sevens side, will partner captain Jean de Villiers in midfield, and former Lions scrumhalf Enrico Januarie, has been preferred to fellow-Bok Bolla Conradie.

Another gain from the Lions, tighthead Brian Mujati, has also been included. An interesting, though expected, selection is that of Luke Watson at No 8, with Schalk Burger and Francois Louw on the flank.

Gio Aplon is at fullback in place of injured Conrad Jantjes.

Erasmus has two locks on the bench – an indication he wants to tackle the Bulls with his tight five. Meanwhile the Bulls’ new captain, Fourie du Preez, said at the announcement of the Super 14 champions’ side they expected a fierce onslaught from the Stormers.

“There have been promises of revenge for their two big defeats over the past two seasons. With Rassie Erasmus coaching them, we expect a number of the successful tactics that he employed at the Cheetahs to be used against us,” Du Preez said.

John Mametsa has been preferred over Danwell Demas and Marius Delport to replace the injured World Cup Springbok wing Akona Ndungane.

Zane Kirchner, who played for Griquas last year, takes over at fullback from retired Johan Roets, and there is the good news that Rayno Gerber has recovered from his Achilles injury and has been included.

The two teams are:
