Stormers loosehead prop JD Moller will play no further part in the Super 14 this season after dislocating a shoulder in Saturday’s 20-12 victory over the Hurricanes at Newlands.
Stormers media manager Frikkie Erasmus told the Cape Times that Moller saw a shoulder specialist for a scan on Sunday. “JD is out for 12 to 16 weeks.
“It is a big blow, as JD has been playing really well this year. He saw the shoulder specialist yesterday,” he said.
Moller left the field after 13 minutes on Saturday.
Replacing Molller will not be easy as Eddie Andrews was ruled out for the season with a back injury, while Schalk Ferreira has only recently returned to training.
Ferreira is the front-runner to come in for Moller.
“Schalk Ferreira was available this week already,” said Erasmus.
“Obviously the (current) guys are in form and are playing well and are match fit.
“But he will definitely come into the mix. And then, Janro van Niekerk was pre-season with us and Wikus Blaauw was overseas with us.
