One of the Stormers’ strengths in the pre-season, depth at lock, is slowly being reduced. Veteran Selborne Boome has joined Ross Skeate on the sidelines.

Boome has been ruled out of the Stormers’ Super 124 Round Two match against the Western Force, at Newlands on Friday, with a stomach virus.

Skeate was ruled out with a foot injury he suffered in the 27-9 loss to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last week.

“Both of them will be out for this week and should be back for the next game [against the Chiefs on February 16],” Stormers coach Kobus van der Merwe said.

The coach is set to draft utility forward Gerrie Britz into the second row.

Francois van der Merwe, one of the stars in the Currie Cup campaign last year, will be drafted onto the bench.
