The Stormers have suffered a blow for their opening Super 14 match in that Conrad Jantjes will miss the match against the Bulls due to a thumb injury.
Jantjes had surgery on his thumb during pre-season training and has recovered from the injury but Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus feels that Jantjes needs about another week before he is 100 percent ready
“With Conrad Jantjes, we just feel that it is a week too early to play him. He is over his injury, but he lacks a bit of fitness and confidence for this week.” Erasmus told the Pretoria News.
Jantjes has been in good form since his move to Cape Town from Johannesburg last season so losing him will be a blow for the Stormers.
Jantjes missed the Stormers only pre-season game against Boland last month because of his thumb injury and management had hoped that he would recover in time for the opener.
