The Stormers had a mix of good and bad Super Rugby news on Monday as they prepared to face the Sunwolves at Newlands on Friday.

Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth pulled up on Monday with a calf injury at training and coach Robbie Fleck expects the player to miss this weekend’s Super Rugby match.

The loss of Etzebeth is a big blow for the Stormers as back up lock Jan de Klerk was ruled out for up to 10 weeks last week and the Cape side’s second row depth will be severely tested in the coming weeks.

On the positive side Damian de Allende and Rynhardt Elstadt have both returned to full training ahead of schedule and will be considered for selection this week.

Fullback Cheslin Kolbe was injured in the match against the Jaguares in Argentina but he has resumed training with the team and coach Robbie Fleck says he will considered for selection this week as well.
