South African Super 14 franchise, The Stormers are targeting Ireland fly-half David Humphreys for the upcoming Super 14 season.
Coach Kobus van der Merwe confirmed he was looking at either Humphreys or Leopards youngster Naas Olivier to cover at number 10 for Peter Grant this season.
“There is the possibility of Humphreys taking a sabbatical (from international rugby). Ireland are thinking of saving him for the 2007 World Cup,” Van der Merwe said.
“We’re hoping for the best. I think our chances of getting him are 50-50.”
Humphreys is 34 years old and is a veteran of 72 Irish Test caps five of which came as Captain.
