The Boland Kavaliers are set to field all their big guns in Saturday’s friendly match against the Stormers in Wellington.

Centre Deon Scholtz (groin), centre Hein Myburgh (mouth), flyhalf Elgar Watts (hamstring) and prop Janro van Niekerk (calf) are all expected to be fit for what promises to be a gruelling encounter.

Rivaly between Boland and their neighbours has always been fierce and Saturday’s match will be no exception as coach Deon Davids has selected his second stringers for Wednesday’s match against Saracens.

The Kavaliers have a point to prove. Watts and Van Niekerk were two outstanding players in last year’s Currie Cup competition, but still Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus did not regard them as good enough for his Stormers Super 14 squad.

Fullback Justin Peach is also expected to make his first appearance of the season on Saturday.

An interesting selection for Saturday could be the inclusion of centre Hendrik van Niekerk, who has just returned from a Rugby League stint in New Zealand.
