Stormers v Cheetahs Rd.14 Super Rugby Preview




The third Super Rugby match on Saturday in Round 14 is in Cape Town where the Stormers host the Cheetahs in a South African derby match.

Earlier in the season the Stormers led the South African Group but they have now slipped to fourth place behind the Lions, Bulls and the Sharks. The Cheetahs are in fifth place.

After 13 rounds of Super Rugby the Stormers have played 11 matches and won 6. The Cheetahs have played 11 matches and won three.

The Stormers have already played the Cheetahs this year and they beat them 10-20 in Bloemfontein.

Stormers coach Robbie Fleck has given centre Daniel du Plessis his Super Rugby debut in this match and he take over from Juan de Jongh who is sidelined with a back strain.

In the forward pack Sikhumbuzo Notshe will start at No.8 in place of Schalk Burger who has not recovered from a foot injury, with JD Schickerling providing lock cover from the bench.

Johnny Kotze moves to the replacements bench in place of the injured Huw Jones.

The Cheetahs have made a couple of changes to the side that beat the Southern Kings before their bye last week. Tian Meyer and Shaun Venter have been rotated at half back.

Meyer comes into the starting lineup which pushes Venter will be getting his 50th (his 32nd cap for the Cheetahs) Super Rugby cap when he runs onto the field off the bench.

Elsewhere in the team Neill Jordaan will be replacing Henco Venter on the bench.

The Bookies have given the Cheetahs a 14 point start for this Match – with an offer of up to $200 in Bonus bets.The Stormers rarely lose at home and the Cheetahs have yet to threaten anyone in the top half of the table this season. The Stormers should win this by 15 or more.
