The Stormers have played the Sunwolves five times in Super Rugby since 2016, the Stormers have won three matches, lost once and drawn once.

The Stormers’ three wins give them a record of winning 60% of their matches against the Sunwolves regardless of venue.

16.00: TRY! Bongi Mbonambi breaks to the blindside of the rolling maul, he is tackled but reaches out to place the ball over the chalk. 5-3

17.00: CONVERSION! Du Plessis makes no mistake from wide. 7-3

20.00: A high tackle from Jaba Bregvadze allows the Stormers good attacking field position.

21.00: Shuhei Matsuhashi dives on the loose ball after a knock on in contact. Johan du Toit and Coetzee both carried with conviction, but the move breaks down with the handling error.

22.00: Free kick to the tourists for early engagement at the scrum.

23.00: Dillyn Leyds’ grubber rolls into touch near the opposition’s 22. The Stormers are opting to use the boot at every opportunity to pin their opponents back inside their half.

25.00: Leyds drops a bomb into a Sunwolves’ hand, giving the visitors possession inside his half.

26.00: Kitshoff saves the day, winning a penalty at the breakdown.

28.00: Cobus Wiese knocks on in contact. The Sunwolves’ tackle technique has been impressive. They snaffle the runner and contest for the ball, looking to strip it from the attacking player’s hands.

29.00: TRY! Craig Barry scores his first Super Rugby try, finishing off a counter-attack after Dan Kriel ripped the ball out of Josh Timu’s hands. Kriel raced forward and played JJ Engelbrecht, who fed Barry on the wing. 12-3

31.00: CONVERSION! The kick is good. 14-3

34.00: The Sunwolves win another penalty; Parker calls for the tee.

36.00: PENALTY! 42 FROM 45 for Parker, this season. Wow! 14-6

38.00: Tom Rowe is sporting one of the best moustaches seen in a while; it’s glorious.

39.00: Coetzee knocks on halfway.

40.00: The scrum goes down, but the Sunwolves break blind with Gerhard van den Heever and Semisi Masirewa, on the wing. however, the ball is lost. The home team counter, but Edwill van der Merwe stands on the touchline.

41.00: A last attack by the Japanese comes to nothing after Matsuhashi knocks on trying to latch onto a grubber.

42.00: The Stormers have not had a single scrum-feed so far, until now.

44.00: Kitshoff loses the ball forward. Scrum again, this time for the Sunwolves.

45.00: It’s all happening. Van der Merwe’s no-look out-the-back door pass to keep the ball in play is intercepted by Jamie Booth. Booth plays Matsuhashi, on the sideline, but the flanker’s inside pass was intercepted by Leyds. The fullback tries a cheeky grubber but knocks on into touch, then a scuffle breaks out. Phew!

47.00: a third intercept opportunity by Coetzee cannot be taken.

49.00: A handling error at the lineout gifts possession back to the visitors.

50.00: Kitshoff thinks he’s won the penalty, but it is not given even though Rowe cleans him out from the side. The ref needs some glasses, so they say.

52.00: Du Plessis’ clearance is long, taking the game back to halfway. This is boring.

53.00: TRY! There we go! Coetzee sends Masirewa to the shops with an outrageous dummy Bobby Skinstad would have been proud. Jano Vermaak’s smart clearance with nobody back after a turnover set up the score. The ball was picked up at the ruck by the No. 8, who sold the hot-cake and scored. 19-6

55.00: CONVERSION! Du Plessis adds the two. 21-6

57.00: Wilco Louw elbows Alex Wooton, but the referee misses the indiscretion.

60.00: Some heroic defending by the Sunwolves; they win the turnover from behind their goal-line and begin the counter with Masirewa. The fullback dances to near his 10m before Booth kicks to the Stormers’ 22.

62.00: TRY! Semisi gets his ninth Super Rugby try of the season, taking Akihito Yamada’s offload and racing to swallow dive under the sticks. 21-11

63.00: CONVERSION! Parker will not miss from there. 21-13

65.00: PENALTY! Josh Stander kicks the three. 24-13

68.00: Penalty to the Stormers. Interestingly, they opt for touch rather than another three.

72.00: The Stormers continue to dominate the final stages at Newlands.

73.00: TRY! Coetzee has been immense, dotting down after another superb driving maul. Game over! 29-13

76.00: TRY! Masirewa gets to double-digits for five-pointers, this season. He finishes off in the corner after a slick attack. Stander jumped out the line, allowing the fullback to race away in the corner. 31-18

79.00: Stormers are looking for a bonus-point to keep alive their slim playoff chances.
