Strauss and Pollard fit for Bulls Super Rugby opener

Pretoria based Super Rugby side the Bulls are confident that Adriaan Strauss
and Handre Pollard will be fit to face the Stormers in their Super Rugby season
opener.

The Bulls start their Super Rugby season against the Stormers on 14 February
at their home ground of Loftus Versfeld.

Adriaan Strauss (calf, 9 Feb), Jason Jenkins (quad, 26 Jan) and Handre Pollard
(foot, 26 Jan) are expected to be fit for the opening match.

Prop Morne Mellett has been has been cleared of a rib contusion and has been
included in the team to play a warm up match against the Cheetahs on the 24th
of January.

Mellett’s return will be good news to coach Frans Ludeke, as the Bulls have
a number of front rankers out of action.

Basil Short (pectoral muscle) will only train the first week of February and
Hencus van Wyk (foot injury) at the end of next month.

Pierre Schoeman, who tore cruciate ligaments pre-season, will miss the whole
of the Super Rugby season.

The only other long-term injury is that of lock Flip van der Merwe who’s pectoral
injury is expected to keep him out until the middle of April.
